Documentary Research Project in Paros, Greece | Summer 2025

In summer 2025, I traveled to Paros, Greece, to independently produce a documentary examining how tourism impacts local life. During peak season, the island experiences a dramatic influx of visitors, and I wanted to understand how that rapid growth affects year-round residents, particularly housing, resources, transportation, and daily routines.

I conducted interviews with residents, business owners, and visitors, filming in homes, shops, and public spaces. The project required complete independence. I managed outreach, communicated across language and cultural differences, and handled filming, editing, and overall project planning.

Living on the island for six weeks allowed me to engage deeply with the community. Some residents emphasized the economic benefits of tourism, while others felt the pace of change was overwhelming. These perspectives shaped the direction of the film and helped capture both the opportunities and challenges of seasonal growth.

This project strengthened my ability to take initiative, solve problems independently, and manage a complex creative process. The Price of Paradise brought together my interests in economics, storytelling, and immersive research, and remains a defining part of my college experience.
